First, the people who wrote this test don't know the meaning of optical resolution or image resolution. That's not uncommon now that everybody thinks in pixels.
What is being asked about is the size of 1 pixel in scale marker length. The scale marker is about 1/3 of the width of the image. The image is 300 pixels wide. Therefore the scale marker is 100 pixels wide. One pixel is 1/100 of 40km or 400 meters. To calculate dpi of screen or screen density also the pixel per inch you can use this PPI Calculator,it shows the instant results.
